A delegation of the AB Party submitted the memorandum at around 11:30 am today, Tuesday. Human rights expert Huma Khan accepted the memorandum on behalf of the UN Resident Representative in Bangladesh. The three-member AB Party delegation included the party’s Vice Chairman Lt. Col. (retd.) Didarul Alam, Head of the International Relations Department and Joint General Secretary Nasreen Sultana (mil), and member Irtika Ahmed.

After submitting the memorandum, Nasreen Sultana said, “If we bring together all the crimes including the torture of women by Chhatra League across the country, inhumane oppression in guest rooms in university halls, their role as paramilitaries in the field to implement the Awami League’s political agenda, especially the attacks on ordinary students during the July mass uprising, we find a great similarity with an international terrorist organization.” The UN office has raised all this and demanded that Chhatra League be declared an international terrorist organization.

The head of the AB Party’s international relations department said that this is one of the reasons for seeking international recognition so that Chhatra League leaders and activists cannot plot against the country while sitting safely at home or abroad despite violating such human rights.

Nasreen Sultana also said, “The UN representative has heard our statement, accepted the memorandum and said that they will take necessary steps. Since member states also have a role to play in implementing the matter, they have said that they need to consider them.”
